Intro to Identification
If you know who you are, it changes the way you do life!
This is a very bold statement! Have you ever thought about who you are? Have you ever doubted in your identity?
It makes it very difficult to make decisions or even stand for something if this building block is not in place.
Knowing who you are in Christ gives you the freedom to be in a relationship with God. If your child comes into the home and needs something from the fridge, he has the freedom and boldness to walk up to the fridge and take something out and enjoy it, because he/she knows this is their home.
In much the same way, we receive that freedom to an open and honest relationship with God as soon as we realize that we are His children and are welcome in His "home".
With this new premise from which we live, we then have a new way of doing life. We now know that our decisions do not determine my acceptance with God, but my new identification and intimacy with God determines my decisions and choices. It should also change the way I act toward other people. The knowledge that "I am made in the image and likeness of God reflecting His nature" (Gen. 1:27 MES) and that I am included in the finished work of God to be a representative of God through our choices and actions, should dramatically change the way we act towards other people. Knowing full well that this truth applies to them too!
